We want to tell you about special advanced classes that will be offered at Concord High School next school year. These classes can help your student learn more, build important skills and get ready for the future. 


Why Take Advanced Courses?

Advanced Classes offered: 


Course Name: AP Computer  Science Principles 

Description: You will learn how computers and technology impact our daily lives by examining the apps we use, how our personal data is collected, and how technology can have positive and negative consequences. 

Grade Level: 10,11,12 

Prerequisites and How Students Are Selected There are no prerequisites, and our Guidance Team will discuss taking AP courses during their individualized academic progress meeting. 


Course Name:  AP English Language and Composition 

Description:  You will read nonfiction texts through the eyes of a writer, exploring the choices writers and speakers make to persuade their audience. By analyzing how writing is composed, you’ll be able to construct your own persuasive pieces.

Grade Level: 10,11,12 

Prerequisites and How Students Are Selected There are no prerequisites, and our Guidance Team will discuss taking AP courses during their individualized academic progress meeting. 


Course Name:  AP Spanish Language and Culture 

Description: Immerse yourself in this cultural adventure  through the second most spoken language in the world, and learn about issues such as family, identity, health, technology, global challenges, art, and many other topics. 

Grade Level: 10,11,12

Course Name:  AP Psychology

Description: In AP Psychology, you’ll learn the foundational concepts that detail how and why people think and behave the way they do. 

Grade Level: 10,11,12 

Prerequisites and How Students Are Selected There are no prerequisites, and our Guidance Team will discuss taking AP courses during their individualized academic progress meeting. 


 

If you would like your student to participate in any of these courses, please talk to a school counselor or administrator. They will be happy to explain the programming process and help your student choose the right classes. 


Help for Student in Advanced Classes: 

We offer help so all students can do well in these classes such as: 


Academic help: 

support at the school (e.g., tutoring,  study sessions, subject-specific workshops, etc.) 


Financial help: 

The school pays for any costs related to these advanced classes.
